You’ve probably heard the bad news: There wasn’t a GTG 2001. MoK, who had been on the job of being OCP for almost a hundred years now, had vowed not to be doing it again. As it turned out, he had left behind a vacuum and a number of people unable to do without him. This was sad.
The GTG had been around before that for 26 almost-consecutive years, and I was very much afraid that having one stillborn GTG might easily have caused this great project to die forever.
On this website, I had tried to save the GTG from the very moment I heard it was about to fail. Unfortunately, the attempt to save it by sending in an emergency OC comprised of members from all over the world didn’t quite work out, the vision of IAESTE and AIESEC had left us, there was no GTG 2001.
Fortunately, the GTG 2002 did happen, and with MoK again, and was another success, so my fears as regards long-term effects were unjustified.
